A 2-year Pasteur Network Postdoctoral Grant funded by the Pasteur Network Foundation to “Study the role of microglial TREM2 at the intersection of prenatal infection and neurological diseases” has been awarded to the team of Dr. Era Taoufik at the Neurobiology Department of the HPI. In collaboration with Dr. Mary Emmanouil and Dr. Emmanouil Aggelakis (Head of the Department of Public Health), this project will provide novel information on how TREM2 regulates human microglia functions and neuronal health upon CMV infection, extending findings to mechanisms that link early-life infectivity with late-appearing neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases.
